Abstract:

1) A survey of available information on some helminthic, bacterial, and viral zoonoses: geographic distribution, disease rates, symptoms, means of transmission from animal species to human subjects, and means of protection. 2) Recommendations of needed work on zoonotic diseases in the American Arctic and Subarctic. 3) Suggestions of ways that anthropologists can assist-in epidemiologic studies and in preparing information on health threats and protection for local use.
