Coming full circle: Political science and the analysis of Inuit modernity
Pages: 301 - 314

Abstract:

This article proposes a reflection on the role of political science in the understanding of Inuit struggles towards self-government. The analytical framework organized around the notion of power highlights the specific contribution of the political scientist with regard to the political coming of age of northern peoples. Three cases are examined: the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and the Greenlandic Home Rule.
