Au cours des années 1970, l'affirmation de l'identité inuit est passée d'un registre purement symbolique à un niveau plus politique. L'attitude de l'Etat et du système d'éducation devient plus favorable à la promotion de la langue et de la culture inuit. Cependant, la langue des Inuit existe dans un contexte socio-politique qui se caractérise par des relations inégales entre le Nord et le Sud et ne pourra s'épanouir véritablement si les habitants du Nord n'accèdent pas à une plus grande autonomie politique.
Abstract:
In the 1970's, the expression of Inuit identity was no longer confined to the symbolic realm and it became increasingly political. The attitudes of the state and of the education system became more favorable to the promotion of Inuit lnaguage and culture. However, the evolution of this language is set in a wider socio-political context characterized by unequal relations between North and South and the language of the Inuit will face serious difficulties if the inhabitants of the North do not gain political autonomy.
